2. Do you feel comfortable adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing FRACTIONS without a calculator? What are your strengths and weaknesses?
3. If a calculator was taken from you, which do you prefer to work with: fractions or decimals? Why?
4. Name one goal heading into this unit. Make it specific and measurable (meaning that you can easily be able to tell if you have accomplished the goal at the end of the unit).
1. Adding and subtracting I’m pretty sure I can do it, and multiplying and dividing I forgot everything from last years
ReplyDelete2. Again, I’m pretty sure I can do adding and subtracting but multiplying and dividing I forgot everything
3. Fractions because it’s my strongest point
4. My goal is to NAIL dividing and multiplying decimals and fractions
I can add, subtract and multiply decimals without a calculator. I don’t feel comfortable dividing decimals though.
ReplyDeleteI can add, subtract and multiply fractions with and without a calculator. I cannot divide fractions with or without a calculator.
I would prefer to work with fractions because I am a visual learner and fractions can be done visually, while decimals cannot.
I would like to improve my understanding of decimals, and be able to apply it to real life uses.

ReplyDelete1. Yes for adding and subtracting but not quite so confident in multiplying and dividing.
2.I fell quite confident in all four of these areas.
3. Fractions because I've had more experience with them.
4.I want to be able to divide and multiply decimals up to hundredths in my head.
Yes, I do feel comfortable doing mathematical operations with decimals. I some times make silly mistakes but otherwise my strengths are all around with the subject.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do feel comfortable doing mathematical operations with fractions. With this subject also I some times make silly mistakes but otherwise my strengths are all around with the subject.
Fractions because they are easier to work with for they have non-complicated system and are basic operations.
I will try to reduce on all silly mistakes.
1. For decimals, I can add and subtract decimals and I struggle a little bit with multiplying and dividing decimals without a calculator.
ReplyDelete2. For fractions, I can add and subtract fractions if they have the same denominator as well as multiplying fractions but I am getting there with dividing fractions. Also my adding and subtracting is worse with different denominators.
3. Probably fractions but it depends what the questions are because some are harder than others in my opinion.
4. I want to try to get better at dividing decimals and also to read the questions correctly so I don't do a silly mistake
1. I am pretty comfortable adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals.
ReplyDelete2. I am very comfortable about adding and subtracting fraction but not very comfortable with multiplying and dividing with fractions.
3. If a calculator was taken from me I would prefer to do mathematical operations on decimals than fractions.
4. I want to really focus on this topic and try to get the best I can do. I don’t know much about fractions and decimals so I want to catch up and learn as much as I can.
1. Do you feel comfortable adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing Decimals without a calculator? What are your strengths and weaknesses?
ReplyDeleteI feel comfortable adding, and subtracting decimals. But, I need more practice with multiplying, and dividing decimals. My strength is that I understand the topic very well, but my weakness is that I make silly mistakes.
2. Do you feel comfortable adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing Fractions without a calculator? What are your strengths and weaknesses?
I feel comfortable with adding, and subtracting fractions. I’m not so confident with multiply, and dividing fractions. My strength is that I know the basic understanding of the topic, but my weakness is that I make silly mistakes.
3. If a calculator was taken from you, which do you prefer to work with: fractions or decimals? Why?
If a calculator was taken from me I would probably prefer to work with decimals as I do less silly mistakes with it and I don’t get confused.
4. Name one goal heading into this unit. Make it specific and measurable (meaning that you can easily be able to tell if you have accomplished the goal at the end of the unit).
- I want to get better at multiplying and dividing at both Fractions and Decimals.
1. I am comfortable adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals without a calculator. My strengths are converting the decimal place after multiply/dividing decimals or converting decimals to fractions or percentages. I do not feel that I have any weaknesses.
ReplyDelete2. I am comfortable adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions without a calculator. My strengths are converting decimals to fractions or percentages. I do not feel that I have any weaknesses.
3. If a calculator was taken away from me, I would prefer to work with to decimals because decimals seem more easy to work with when you are altering values through any of the operations.
4. My goal for this unit is to get full marks (or very close to them) on everything I do because it is handed in on time, neatly and all (or almost all) the answers to the assigned tasks are written correctly.
1.I feel comfortable adding and subtracting decimals but I am not so sure about multiplying and dividing. I think I know the first part to multiplying and dividing but I could guess the next parts. My strength in that area is probably adding decimals.
ReplyDelete2.I am comfortable adding and subtracting fractions but not so multiplying and dividing. I think I know the first part to multiplying and dividing but it would be guess work from there on. I don't really have a specific strength but I quite enjoy simplifying and finding a common denominator.
3.I don't really mind but I would probably rather decimals only because when i was younger I had some problems with fractions because they weren't explained very well to me.
4.I want to make sure that I READ the questions and then RE-READ and then when I have answered I need to check my answers before I hand in my work because I am really bad at reading the whole question carefully and then checking all of my answers properly.
1. With decimals I am quite comfortable adding and subtracting but when it comes to multiplying and dividing I am less comfortable.
ReplyDelete2. With fractions I am quite comfortable adding and subtracting but when it comes to multiplying and dividing I am less comfortable.
3.Good question, I would say that I am probably a bit more comfortable doing fractions because I have done a lot of fraction work in the past.
4. I would like to become better and multiplying and dividing fractions and decimals.
1. I feel comfortable adding and subtracting decimals, but I don’t feel as comfortable multiplying and dividing without a calculator. I feel stronger adding and subtracting.
ReplyDelete2. I feel comfortable adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions. I do not feel as comfortable dividing but I can still do it without a calculator. I am much stronger at adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions.
3. If I had no calculator I would rather work with decimals, because they are easier to add to a whole number, where as with fractions you have to convert to decimals.
4. My goal heading into this unit is completing at least one game on Mangahigh.
1. I feel comfortable adding and subtracting decimals. I need to be more careful when I multiply and divide decimals.
ReplyDelete2. I feel comfortable adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions.
3. If a calculator was taken from me I would choose to work with fractions because I find them easier and I’m more likely to make less mistakes in them.
4. My goal is to get better at multiplying and dividing decimals. I also sometimes make silly mistakes in decimals and I need to reduce that.
1. I feel somewhat comfortable adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals without a calculator. I feel more confident adding and subtracting than I would dividing and multiplying decimals.
ReplyDelete2. I feel comfortable adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions but I would like to go over it (briefly) again to recap what we learnt last year. I prefer adding and multiplying fractions over subtracting and dividing.
3. If my calculator was taken from me, I would prefer to work with fractions as I find them easier to understand and, when working with decimals, I sometimes make mistakes with place value.
4. My goal is to be able to confidently multiply and divide decimals without making many mistakes on my place value.
