1. I knew the basics such as vertices and corners and sides. But there were a lot of shapes I didn't know and I forgot over the holidays how to find the area of a triangle. And I know now also what the pie sign is and finding the stuff like the radius and diameter.
ReplyDelete2. I had forgotten how to divide, multiply and subtract fractions. But I knew how to simplify, and add fractions.
3. I learnt plenty for over the holidays my mind went blank. The only thing I knew were how to make line, bar graphs and tables. I feel much more confident now about it.
4. I pretty sure I know it, I can remember something like if 6+x = 9 6=3. But I know it's more or less about it, I think.
5. Okay, 3/4 confident and NERVOUS

5) A. Vague, Expectant, Eager
1) What are some concepts you learned during the SHAPES unit? Did you enter this unit already knowing some topics? If so, which ones? What was challenging for you in this unit?
ReplyDeleteI learned how to find the area of triangles in the shapes unit. I entered the shapes unit knowing how to find the perimeter and area of rectangles. The hardest part of the shapes unit was finding the area of triangles, because I kept forgetting to divide by 2.
2) What are some concepts you learned during the FRACTIONS unit? Did you enter this unit already knowing some topics? If so, which ones? What was challenging for you in this unit?
I learned how to divide a fraction by a fraction in this unit. I entered this unit knowing how to add and subtract fractions. The hardest part of this unit was dividing fractions.
3) What are some concepts you learned during the STATISTICS unit? Did you enter this unit already knowing some topics? If so, which ones? What was challenging for you in this unit?
I learned how to find the mean, median and mode on numbers. I entered this unit already knowing how to find the mean, median and mode. The hardest part of this unit was learning how to find the rand on numbers.
4) Our next unit is ALGEBRA!!! What do you already know about Algebra? If you don't know much, what do you think Algebra is all about?
I don’t know much about algebra, but I think algebra is about using letters instead of numbers.
5) Write three words to best describe how you feel about beginning the Algebra unit.
I am exited, unsure and ready to start the algebra unit.
In this unit I had trouble understanding what a shape was when described to me and things like how many vertices a 3D shape had.
ReplyDeleteI entered this unit not knowing that much about fractions, I forgot a lot from last year so I think I started behind then most people, I learned a lot in this unit, I understood how to divide, add and subtract fractions
I remembered mean median mode from last year so that was good, but the statistics unit taught me how to convert raw data as soon as I see it.
I have no idea what algebra is, we touched on it last year but when I think about it algebra is all a blur, I think that algebra is when you replace a number with a letter and then find what that number is.
Confused, Scared, Curious.
1. SHAPES: I learned different shapes that I wasn’t so sure on like, parallelogram, rhombus, trapezium and many more. I did know most topics like area and perimeter and a lot of the shapes. The challenging part for me this unit was when we were finding the area of a shape that could be split into more than 2 parts.
ReplyDelete2. FRACTIONS: What I learned in the fractions unit is that the keep, flip, change method and also how to divide fractions (included with the keep, flip, change method). I did know how to add, subtract and multiply the fractions and also adding decimals. What was challenging was keeping up in the unit because fractions is not my best math area.
3. STATISTICS: In this unit I learned how to display data in a spreadsheet, display data in charts and organise data. I did know how to use mean, median and mode because this is a strong unit for me and I really enjoyed it. The challenging part for me was showing why I am with my answer and if we got a mean and got asked which was best I would be struggling a bit.
4. ALGEBRA: I don’t know much about algebra but I think it is about letters being numbers and trying to figure out what number they are while also adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
5. 1. Excited
2. Scared (If I struggle)
3. sad (starting a new unit, leaving mean, median and mode)
I learned a lot about the properties of the shapes, I found remembering the names of all the shapes hard including the properties
ReplyDeleteI learned how to divide fractions and multiply them, I found cross simplifying confusing’
I learned more about mean median and mode because i had forgotten from last year how it worked
I didn't really find anything in this unit challenging
I think algebra is when you replace a certain number with a letter in a maths problem and with clues you find out which one it is
excited, confused and curious
1) What are some concepts you learned during the SHAPES unit? Did you enter this unit already knowing some topics? If so, which ones? What was challenging for you in this unit?
ReplyDeleteI entered the shapes unit already knowing a lot of concepts such as finding the area and perimeter of any polygon. I also knew how to find the volume of a cube or a rectangular prism. During this unit I learned many new concept such as finding the circumference and area of a circle.
2) What are some concepts you learned during the FRACTIONS unit? Did you enter this unit already knowing some topics? If so, which ones? What was challenging for you in this unit?
Entering this unit I already knew how to add and subtract fractions. I knew a little bit about multiplying fractions. After the unit i was more confident with multiplying fractious and I learned how to divide fractions. Ii also improved in my ordering skills.
3) What are some concepts you learned during the STATISTICS unit? Did you enter this unit already knowing some topics? If so, which ones? What was challenging for you in this unit?
I entered this unit already knowing how tI already o find the Mean, Median, Mode, and range. I learned how to find the central tendency and outlier.
4) Our next unit is ALGEBRA!!! What do you already know about Algebra? If you don't know much, what do you think Algebra is all about?
I already know the basic of Algebra. ( y x 2 = 7 , y = 5)
5) Write three words to best describe how you feel about beginning the Algebra unit.
I AM EXITED
I mean 'Excited'
DeleteI was familiar with the unit. I found finding pi hard.
ReplyDeleteI already knew about most of the things we did in the fractions unit. I found problem solving a bit hard.
I knew about mean, median, mode and range. I learnt a bout outliers.
I don't know much about algebra. I think it is a bout letters representing numbers.
Excited, nervous, confident.
1) I knew about most of the things except parallelograms, spheres and trapeziums. Nothing was exactly challenging for me but I had a lot of fun!
ReplyDelete2) I knew almost everything. Just I kind of.. like recapped it? And I also
3)I learnt about outliers and ways to collect data and
I know simplification, lunar equations unto 3 steps and also double equations. But now I need a slight recap to revise everything since I have not done it for a long time.
4) Write three words to best describe how you feel about beginning the Algebra unit.
5) I LOVE ALGEBRA!!!!!!!
1)I learn’t how to find the area of a triangle, a rhombus, a kite, a trapezium and a circle. I already knew how to find out the perimeter of a shape, even with missing measurements. I found conversion a bit challenging in the beginning of the unit, but by the end, I felt more confident converting units.
ReplyDelete2) In the fractions unit, we revised how to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions (that I had previously forgotten). I also learn’t how to cross simplify. I already knew how to convert a improper fraction to a mixed number and vice-versa. I found converting fractions to decimals difficult.
3) Though I already knew how to find the mean, median and mode, I learn’t which measure of central tendency is best in which situation. I also learn’t how to identify an outlier. I found it challenging to explain why the median would be better than the mean and mode, but now I think I could explain that better.
4) I know nothing about algebra! I think that algebra is about finding the missing value with letters (?) but this is more of a guess than anything solid.
5) Eager, nervous, excited!
